Supported Independent Living (SIL)
Supported Independent Living (SIL) supports people to live in shared homes with care that suits their needs and goals. The information below explains our SIL services in Hobart and what support can look like day to day.
What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) provides help with daily living tasks for people who live in a shared home. This support is tailored to each person and can include assistance with routines, personal care, cooking, household tasks, and building everyday skills, while encouraging independence wherever possible.

Our SIL Homes In Hobart
We operate Supported Independent Living homes in Hobart, Tasmania, and have experience supporting participants with a range of support needs. Our homes are designed to feel stable and comfortable, with support available when needed and space for people to live in a way that suits them.
Our Approach To Support
We focus on supporting people to build confidence, independence, and choice in their home life. Participants are encouraged to take an active role in daily decisions and routines, with support adjusted to suit their goals and abilities. Many people we support have experienced improvements in their quality of life after moving into a TISS-operated SIL home, including increased independence and a stronger sense of belonging.

Is SIL Right for Me?
SIL may be suitable if you need regular support at home and enjoy living with others, while still wanting independence and choice in your daily life. The level of support is based on your individual needs and NDIS plan, and we’re happy to talk through whether SIL could be the right fit for you.
